Green Flag Award Philips Park
The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales. The award scheme was set up by the Civic Trust in 1996 as a means of recognising and rewarding the best green spaces in the country. It was also seen as a way of encouraging others to achieve the same high environmental standards, creating a benchmark of excellence in recreational green areas.
Philips Park was firstly awarded a Green Flag in 2005 – a prestigious achievement that marks the dedication shown by the Friends of Philips Park, Manchester Leisure and other partners. The award is given on an annual basis and winners must re-apply each year to renew their Green Flag status. It is therefore important that we all do our best to uphold this high standard, so as to ensure the park remains one of England’s finest green spaces for many years to come. Philips has had Green Flag status from 2005-2008.
