The Sportcity Visitors Centre opened in July 2005 and this exciting facility has a permanent exhibition providing information on:
– The work of the Sportcity partners.
– Sportcity events.
– The sporting legacy including the Commonwealth Games.
– The history of the Sportcity site from 1740 and the start of the Bradford Colliery to the present day.
– The role of Sportcity in the regeneration of east Manchester.
At the free exhibition visitors get a fascinating insight into one of the most historically interesting parts of Manchester, brought to life with archive photographs, artefacts and memorabilia, some of which will be on show to the public for the first time.
The Visitors Centre is also the base for the Sportcity Estate Management Service who can offer advice on hiring common domain areas at Sportcity.
